In the first paragraph, Alexie explains how reading a Superman comic book stand byed him start reading. plainly before that he taught himself about paragraphs and how they relate to the echt world. He compared paragraphs to the reservation and to his family. By reading the comic book it stand byed him come across words that he didnt know how to pronounce. Him continuing to give instruction himself, he got ahead of every last(predicate) the other Indian children in his categorize. Then Alexie goes on to talk about how some of the Indian children in his class disliked him because he participated in class. The class was taught by a non-Indian teacher. Indian children were stereotypically supposed to fail and non learn anything. Alexie told himself that, I refused to fail. I was vivid. I was arrogant. I was lucky. Indian children that didnt participate were accepted, those who were smart werent. To help Indian children like him, Alexie went and visited schools to teach children to read and write. By doing this Alexie hoped that he would effect change. Alexie treasured to give children hope and give them believe in themselves that they brush off succeed. Now that Alexie is an Adult, he tries to help the children look past the stereotypes to help them excel in the real world.
